Mirrored Window Film
Mirrored window film is a metallised film with a distinct mirror finish. During the day it turns glass into a one-way mirror: passers-by see a reflection, while you keep a clear view out. Beyond privacy, mirror window film reflects solar heat, tames glare and blocks 99% of UV. Every mirror film for windows in this range is cut to your size for free.

Mirror films for windows from 10% to 35% VLT: range and varieties
The Solaris 979 collection offers mirror films in silver, bronze and light gold hues - and the full strength range, from the darkest 10% models through the standard 20% to the light semi-mirror 30–35%. The mirrored window film UK buyers choose most often is silver. Three strengths of the effect to pick from:
- Standard - around 20% VLT (Visible Light Transmission)
- Semi-mirror - 30–35% VLT
- Intense - the strongest mirror effect, for special cases

Mirror window films and the effects they create
Mirror window film is a very versatile film with a wide range of properties - people choose it when one film has to do several jobs at once:
- One-way daytime privacy: outsiders cannot peer in while daylight lasts. Dedicated models are collected on the one-way mirror film page.
- Heat control: the coating reflects solar heat before it enters the room - up to 91% TSER on the densest model. More heat-focused options sit in the solar window film section.
- Glare reduction: intense sunlight is dimmed - screens stay readable and the room does not turn into a greenhouse in July.
- UV protection: 99% of UV rays are rejected, so furniture and floors fade slower.

The denser the metal content of the coating, the more pronounced the effect. The clarity and brightness of the reflection are directly proportional to the film's ability to deflect solar heat: a clearer reflection means more effective heat rejection.
Colour variations of mirrored film for windows
The tint is determined by the metal used in production. We offer glass mirror film in shades from pure silver to bronze and light gold, and we deliver mirror window film UK-wide, to any location. Before you judge the shade, hold the free piece of mirrored window film from your order against your own pane - the factory tint of the glass shifts it slightly.
VLT of window mirror films: 10%, 20% and 30%
The core technical parameter of window mirror films is VLT - the share of light the coating lets through. The rule is simple: the lower the VLT, the stronger the mirror and the darker the room (the number in the model name is the nominal VLT band). Pick by your window and floor, not by the number alone - every mirror window film below is cut to size:

Standard 20% mirror film for windows
A standard mirror film for windows passes roughly a fifth of the visible light and gives the classic silver look. The street or neighbours a few metres away - a 20% film keeps the view one-way all day: for ground-floor windows this is arguably the best mirror window film. All three share the same working principle - the difference is the side of installation and the tone. Models:
- Omg 20 – silver mirror film for windows, indoor application
- Omg 20 EX – the same silver mirror made for outdoor use. Fitting from outside - take the EX.
- Bronze AT 20 EX – outdoor bronze mirrored window film for warm-toned facades

Semi-mirrored window film – 30–35% VLT
Want the mirror look without overly darkening the room - take a semi-mirrored window film: sunlight and heat are still reduced, but more light stays in. Typically the choice for smaller windows, around 1.6 m high and 90 cm wide. Recommended models:
- Omg 35 – light silver mirror window film, indoor installation
- Omg 30 EX – outdoor-friendly silver mirrored window film
- Infinity 35 – light gold sputtered mirror film for windows, indoor settings
- Bronze AT 35 EX – bronze mirror film for windows, external surfaces

Intense mirror window film: the strongest effect
The Omg 10 model has VLT 7% - the strongest mirror effect window film in our range, with 75% reflectance and 91% TSER. It mainly works in server rooms, utility spaces and industrial glazing; in a home take it only for special cases - a large south-facing window or full daytime privacy at pavement level.

Essential knowledge about mirror film for windows
Even a superior-quality internal mirror film for windows, when installed on certain glazing units, may cause minor heat accumulation - this is inherent to mirrored tinting. If this is a concern, choose the external mirror window films marked with the "EX" index.
The reflective side of a mirrored window film is governed by light intensity. During daylight the coating reflects outwards; in the evening and at night the reflection turns inwards. This is an innate attribute of the window film mirror effect, and no alternative currently exists.
Fitting from inside is easier and the film lasts longer; fitting outside works harder against heat - the FAQ below weighs the trade-off in detail. Every self-adhesive mirrored window film here applies the same way: the method follows the standard protocol for window films, and the specialised tools with mounting concentrate come free with the order.
Ordering mirrored window film cut to size
- Measure the glass and enter the width and height of your mirrored window film in centimetres on the product page - whole centimetres, people sometimes type metres by mistake. Maximum piece: 280 x 145 cm.
- The price appears instantly for your mirror window film, no registration.
- Add to basket. The mirror window film arrives cut by CNC to 0.1 mm, corners finished, labelled with its size and name.
Cutting is free for every mirrored window film in the range - the full list of measured pieces is in the mirror window film cut to size section - and a free piece of the same film for practising the installation technique comes in the box.
Premium mirror window film and our service
A premium mirror film for windows is chosen when the finish has to last - and that is what www.window-film-solaris.co.uk provides: films that resist discolouration, fading and peeling, mirror window tints that shrug off moisture and repeated cleaning - ordinary glass cleaner and a soft cloth are all the maintenance needed.

Two ways to buy a mirror film for windows:

- Mirror film roll – films in rolls of industry-standard width.
Durability of the mirror effect glass film
This mirror window film comes with a protective 2H layer, resistant to minor mechanical abrasion; indoors a mirrored window film serves nine years and more. Need a mirror finish that works from both sides? See the section on two-way mirror film - a different product for a different job.

Mirrored window film – frequently asked questions
What is window mirror film and how does it differ from solar and tinting film?
Window mirror film is a heavily metallised film with a distinct mirror sheen. These are different classes: solar film reflects heat, tinting film changes the appearance and properties of glass. Mirror film has the properties of solar film, but they are not synonyms: not every solar film is a mirror effect film (some are semi-transparent), and not every tinting film is reflective — automotive film is simply black. In practice it is a universal film: one-way daytime privacy, solar heat rejection and sun dimming in one.
What were mirror films for windows originally created for?
Not for privacy — for reflecting solar heat and dimming bright sunlight. Some models dim by up to 80%. The mirror effect on the brighter side was originally a bonus that became the main reason people buy them.
How does mirror film for glass work — which side reflects?
The side with more light reflects — that is physics, not a property of either side of the film. From our experience, you need roughly a 3-fold difference in light levels. That is why the mirror faces outwards during the day, and at night, with lights on inside, the effect flips inwards — then curtains or blinds are necessary.
Does mirrored glass film work on a cloudy day, without sun?
Yes. The UK climate has plenty of overcast days, but the effect does not depend on sunshine — only on the difference in light. On a cloudy day it is still roughly three times brighter outside than in a room without the main lights on, so the film keeps its mirror effect.
What colours does mirror film for glass windows come in, and what shade will I get?
The palette is limited by the metals used in production: silver, gold and a few others. The final shade is a sum of two things: the film's tint and the factory tint of your glass (every pane has a 10–15% tint, slightly greenish or otherwise). The most popular choice is silver.
Will window mirror film darken my room? The window is small
The mirror effect needs a difference in light, but for small windows there are light, semi-mirror models — for example Omg 35: it darkens noticeably less while keeping the privacy effect.
Can I apply mirrored film for glass to double or triple glazing?
With care: mirrored window film reflects heat, and only a limited number of models suit internal installation on modern glazing units. From our range — Omg 20: over 15 years of practice it has caused no problems.
Should mirror film for glass go inside or outside?
For privacy it makes no difference: the brighter side reflects. For heat, external film rejects heat around 20% more effectively — but exterior film lasts 4+ years versus 9+ years indoors, and outdoor installation is always trickier, with a risk of dust and grit under the film. Weigh effectiveness against lifespan.
I applied the film the "wrong" side out — do I need to redo it?
No. On mirror film only the adhesive side matters — it goes against the glass after you remove the transparent liner. The side that reflects is always the one with more light, regardless of how you applied the film.
Why do rainbow stains appear at the edges of mirror glass film over time?
That is oxidation of the metallic layer — it occurs when the film is not fully adhered or poorly installed. Apply the film completely, across the whole surface: then there will be no oxidation, peeling or rainbow stains.
Is it true that birds fly into windows with mirrored glass window film?
Yes, it is a side effect: the clearer the reflection, the more often a bird mistakes it for open space. No film solves this, and bird silhouettes do not help — as of 2026, the problem of birds and mirrored facades remains unsolved. We tell it as it is.
How do I apply mirror film without bubbles and streaks?
Only with mounting solution and a proper squeegee. Large pieces strictly need two people: a 250 cm piece cannot be applied alone, and two pairs of hands and four eyes will save the film from damage.
