Window Film – Properties and Capabilities
Window film is a polymer-based material designed to enhance and modify the properties of glass. It can make regular glass opaque, shield a room against intense heat or bright sunlight, strengthen the pane against break-ins, or simply change how the window looks.

Essentially, window film tailors existing glass to the specific needs of the client: privacy, security, sun protection or decoration — all achieved with one specialised glass covering.
Choosing the Ideal Window Film for Your Needs
Every type of window film has unique characteristics, and each film must be used for its intended purpose. For example, car window tinting films should not be used on residential windows — they can damage the glass in apartments, offices and private homes.
By their features, glass films fall into several primary types:
- Privacy films – shield against prying eyes at all hours.
- One way window film – offers a unidirectional visibility effect.
- Mirror tint – comes in varying degrees of reflectiveness.
- Solar glass film – protects against summer heat and glaring sun.
- Frosted glass films – render glass opaque while still letting light through.
- Window protection film – varying thicknesses to bolster glass strength and safeguard against shards.
- Decorative films – available in an array of colours and patterns.
- Tint films – overview of similar products and glass coatings.
Each film type serves a distinct purpose. Some films share similar properties, but there is no one-size-fits-all solution — consider the attributes of each type to achieve the result you need.

The Science Behind Window Film Specifications
Every professional-grade window film comes with a standard set of technical characteristics. These specifications tell you exactly what effect the film delivers:
- VLT: light transmission capacity
- VLR: light reflection rate
- IR rejection: infrared reflection level
- UV rejection: ability to reflect ultraviolet radiation
- TSER: total solar energy repelled
- Thickness: gauge of the film
These technical features enable customers to make informed comparisons between different types of window films. All our professional glass films come with these detailed technical descriptions. Their inclusion signifies our commitment to quality and underscores our meticulous approach as manufacturers.

Indicators of inferior window film
- Feels extremely thin – cheap films crack easily and have a significantly shorter lifespan. They also lack a protective coating, leading to visible scratches and defects.
- Poor adhesive strength, resulting in weak adherence to the surface.
- A cloudy appearance – some manufacturers cut costs by using recycled materials like plastic bottles and cellulose packaging. Inadequately purified, these materials make the covering murky instead of clear.
- Dull reflection – low-quality mirror and sun-protective coverings often have insufficient metallisation, yielding a weak mirror effect and ineffective heat reflection.
The longevity of glass film
- Interior glass film typically lasts over nine years.
- Exterior films serve for over four years. On horizontal or sloped surfaces like roof windows or glass domes, expect up to five years, depending on conditions.
The environment heavily influences the longevity of externally applied films: weather, temperature fluctuations, and mechanical factors such as gusty winds or birds. Exterior coverings are designed with these influences in mind, but they generally have a shorter lifespan than interior ones.
Films don't stop working immediately after their service life — they gradually show signs of wear, with a natural decline of 10 to 20 per cent per year.

Maintenance Insights
All our coverings come with a 2H protective layer — resistant to mechanical wear and standard household cleaning agents.
Please note:
- Do not treat the glass covering with steam generators or high-pressure washers. Such treatments can weaken the adhesive layer and cause the covering to peel off.
- The glass covering and its adhesive layer need adequate time to dry thoroughly — one to two weeks depending on the region and season.
